TALENTS
In the One Piece world, everyone is talented in one aspect or another. Your character starts off with a two talents and gains more talents as they rank up. A talent is essentially a... well... it's a talent~!
Talents are what can make a character stronger than normal, faster than normal, and etc than the norm. Even Professions can be Talents, however, they are categorized as Profession Talents. Cooking, Doctoring, Navigation, and etc are registered as Profession Talents. Talents are the great traits of your character.
Another great thing though that Talents can do for a player is let them begin with something that usually they wouldn't be allowed to when a Rookie. Using a Talent when starting out as a Rookie, your character may do the following if said Talent is chosen when creating your character.
So, as you can see, Talents are very useful for a character's development progression. It is key to choose your Talents carefully, as once a Talent is made and registered, there is no way to go back. Unless a Talent needs tweaking or changing for some reason, there is no way to swap out Talents. All Talents are graded on a case by case basis unless there is a precedent Talent already set in place.
A single regular Talent is required to promote Power, Speed, or HP up a single Rank. See the HP System within the bottom of the Combat System for more information on how HP and Power are handled. A single Super Talent can promote Power, Speed, or HP up two Ranks. However, Power, Speed, nor HP can be no more than a Rank above the user's own Rank.
A Super Talent basically acts like a regular Talent but an even more powerful one, so, they are very valuable. When it comes to Super Talents, they are usually made with the idea of making a Talent that has double the bonuses. A Form, Haki, Improved Profession, or Character Buff are all things that would fall under the category of a Super Talent bonus.
In order for any character to unlock a type of Haki, they are required to create a Super Talent doing so. In the case of Haki, it has a higher amount of bonuses a standard Super Talent would have, to make Haki something worth obtaining. However, that doesn't mean another Super Talent's bonuses are totally worthless. When a Form or Permanent Character Buff is combined with Haki, devasting results can be achieved. For a character to further increase their Haki, they must apply a Super Talent to their already established Haki. Once the Super Talent has been applied, they obtain Advanced Haki of whatever type of Haki they applied it to. All Super Talents are graded and approved on a case by case basis for the most part. Here below are some examples of Super Talents.
Example: A physical form that buffs a character up, granting the character an extra two Ranks of Power and an extra two Ranks of Speed. (Keep in mind that Power, Speed, nor HP can go beyond two Ranks of your character's Rank.)
Example: A physical permanent buff that grants a character an extra two Ranks of Power. (Keep in mind that Power, Speed, nor HP can go beyond two Ranks of your character's Rank.
Example: A profession Super Talent that upgrades an already owned certain profession that has halved wordcount needed for creating, doing, or etc what your profession does. Upgrading your profession to a Super Talent profession also makes your profession twice as effective. (See Profession Talents down below for more information on how they work).
Additionally, a Super Talent is capable of using one's own spirit to create something out of thin air such as fire, ice, electricity, or some other type of oddity (Though, a character can only have one Super Talent using their spirit). Super Talents such as the one above can be already imbued with certain weapons and swords but must be unlocked through the use of a certain other Super Talent needed to use them.
A Profession Talent is a particular type of Talent that grants the user of the Talent a certain Profession, allowing them to write a set word count in order to obtain something. Every Profession Talent has the set word count of 250 in order to obtain whatever it is they are trying to achieve. Here are examples of Profession Talents down below. Please take a look.
As you can see, Profession Talents come in a variety of different ways. So, knowing that now, don't be afraid to make a Profession Talent and being worried about it being balanced. We, the staff will help you the best we can form your Profession Talent and other Talents through grading. Feel free to ask all the questions you need. We're here to help you.
When first hearing 'Permanent Character Buff', you may think "Well, what's the difference between that and a Form". Well, let me inform you on what differentiates them. A 'Permanent Character Buff' is exactly what it reads as, however, it is significantly weaker than a Form (Only twice as strong as a regular Talent) since it is permanent and not limited by a post count.
For canon examples of characters that would have 'Permanent Character Buffs' on One Piece World, take a look at someone like Garp or Big Mom. Garp and Big Mom have strength far exceeding the regular strength of most others that is permanent to them. However, someone like Luffy relies on Forms instead of permanent strength, giving a person reliant on Forms an edge over 'Permanent Buff' characters but needing to fight a fast fight before losing their Form.
Yet, don't take all of what has said above as saying that a person can't have both Forms and Permanent Buffs since that is not true. A character can have both Forms AND Permanent Buffs. Though regular Talents can have Forms and Permanent Buffs too, it just won't be as strong as Super Talent Forms and Super Talent Permanent Buffs.
