Mina wasn't stupid by any means. In fact, she was quite the opposite even though at her core she was still a dumb, reckless teenager with basically no experience or awareness of the world outside of her own hometown. This intelligence meant that when she found out some ancient maps were discovered in the next town over, she devised a way to get it. It was an extremely hair-brained scheme that put her life at risk multiple times due to the need to rob pirates that happened to be in the area. She just hoped her dad never found out...she'd get an earful if he did, and she likely wouldn't see the light of day for a like, two weeks. Not to mention her gun would be taken away, and that wouldn't do at all.
This was the reason she set out to the place the map lead to the best of her ability, getting lost a few times but ultimately getting a good way there. She had her gun on her mostly for intimidation purposes since she still didn't have the heart to just kill people even when she probably needed to, though she was starting to realize by this point that if she intended to see the world as a marine or otherwise she couldn't survive very long doing that. She hoped to meet someone along the road to help her with directions and just so she wouldn't have to be so paranoid about traveling into the forests this far up the mountain, pretty far from any civilization by a long shot.

"Hmm... Let's see here." A Green haired woman would be roaming the same woods. Though, the map was clearly different than the unknown other teen's map... Locke couldn't help but think back on how she got the map as she walks
"This is the map, of a pirate that was around the times of the great pirate Gol D. Rodger... though, he never got anywhere as infamous." Laughed an old man as he gave the young blacksmith a old piece of paper that was her promised "payment" for sharpening his whittling knife. "Really... Are you sure?" she'd ask, as he gets up and starts to walk out. "Of course!" He'd call out as he walks off.
Now, Locke wasn't one to chase fairy-tails so quickly... but, she had an itch, a strong one, that made her gather the supplies for a trip, and she would start searching the woods for this mythical treasure...
She followed the map to the best of her ability, eyes almost solely on it, and not the path as she hums. she got lost more than once, but soon she was on the right path... before she stumbles almost directly into the other girl that was walking this far deep into the woods.
Falling down her eyes suddenly goes towards the other girl..."O-Oh I'm sorry..."

Mina wasn't paying much attention to directions as usual, but especially so now that she had to follow a map exactly, and an old map with outdated names for places and things that were no longer there in the environment. She was managing though thanks to being used to reading old books that had the same kind of stuff and the same kinds of problems, that and the literature of the time being much different in what you could and couldn't say especially. Her train of thoughts was interrupted by a young girl with green hair bumping into her and starting to fall, then immediately apologizing. "It's ok, don't worry about it." Mina sidestepped the girl from knocking them both over as she grips her arm so she doesn't fall, helping her stand. "What are you out here for? You're far too...pretty...to be out here, you know? At least I'd think that." She gave the girl a doubtful look, a small frown on her face as she spoke in an abrasive tomboyish manner, almost sounding like she was angry but not quite coming across that way.
Mina then looked back to her "You mind joining me? You look like you need help, even with the map, and it shows. Plus it'd be safer to travel together for now." She stated as if it was obvious, looking down to her map briefly to indicate she wasn't just blowing smoke, her aware of the pirates that would likely be lurking around due to her theft of her map. She just hoped they'd be stupid and get too lost to find her since she had no plan if they found her except attempt to defend herself.

The girl she just ran into would also seem to be following a similar map, as Locke gets back up she chuckles.Oh, she wasn't homely either... She looked roughly in her late teens, same with Locke just about, but she had softer looking skin and hair. Chalk the rough hands to a time of work with heavy hammers and hot metal.
"R-right. You really think I'm pretty?"She asks, a bit shocked that's how she opened the conversation..."W-well thank you. You're pretty too." She'd smile, looking around a bit at the empty woods around them... it was peaceful. "I'm following this treasure map an old man gave me for repairing his whittling knife... What are you out here doing?" She asks in reply... Locke always liked to meet new people.
"O-oh, sure! I'll take the help, and if we run into trouble I can defend myself... can you?" she asks as she draws one of her battle fans... they looked used, so she wasn't helpless.

Mina blushed slightly at actually getting a compliment, her twirling her hair a bit. "Thanks I guess, though..I don't try to be. A-and it's not like it makes me particularly happy either, being pretty doesn't mean anything when you have to work your ass off." She responded flustered, her quickly shifting the topic of conversation after responding to her thanks "Also, you're welcome. It never hurts to see a cute girl after all." She smiled brightly, now moving on to the map.
She let out a hysterical hearty laugh at how easy it was for new girl to get her map "Well how I got my map is simple; some pirates were passing through town so I strategically stole it from them. Apparently leads to some massive treasure so I'm just following it so I can get whatever that is, I'm kinda tight on Beli this month and I really need some new music dials." She stated matter of factly as if that was a normal thing to say, her headphones on the whole time with the music muted in one ear so she could hear what people were saying while also blasting music into her ear constantly, her voice being somewhat louder but not by much.
When she saw the fan she raised an eyebrow suspiciously, far too quickly unholstering her rifle and spinning it into her hands before re-holstering it as she responded, showing it off as she spoke. "Of course I can defend myself, who wouldn't? I've been shooting since I was little." She was overselling herself by a long shot, having only been training in how to even hold a real gun for about a year at best.

she'd show her rough hands... they did seem kind of rough for a normal teen. Her nails are still well kept though. The girl would nod as she just lets her compliment slide off. If they kept complimenting each other, they'd be stuck here for a while...
Locke would giggle, agreeing wither new acquaintance..."Yeah, mine was way easier, though, that old man sure was picky..." she would jokingly pout. "O-oh, are you sure we arent being followed? I mean, I've met a few pirates, they dont seem the type to just let someone get away with their treasure." She seemed to get nervous, though if she knew her story, she'd understand why she seemed nervous.
She seemed a bit more at ease as she saw the girl show off a flair of her weapon... she seemed at least skilled enough to clean up some mooks. "Oh! Neat! I tried firing my dad's rifle but, I was no good at it. These though feel just right somehow." She'd pat her weapons once more, seeming to beam a bit brighter with her smile."Well, let's get going then.. Oh, I'm sorry, i dont know your name."
She offers her hand in friendship."I'm Locke. Locke C. Alder."

"That explains the rough hands. If I didn't know better I'd check if you were even a girl." Mina playfully cooed, giggling as she nudged her. She was never this sociable before, even around other girls usually. She knew she could come off as flirty and some part of her didn't care and hoped it'd be reciprocated, though in her mind that was more her ego than anything else, it had to be. She didn't want to think about if it wasn't just her ego. It made her very uncomfortable and she could get killed if she got too lost in thought for too long.
"I'm Mina. Mina Winchester. Also, if I was being followed I'd know. If we are being followed, we hide and use stealth." She simply stated, sighing as she walked along, in the distance the footfalls of pirates, about 5, as if on cue. Mina quickly ducked behind a tree, waiting for them to pass, lining up a shot to their knee so she wouldn't have to kill anyone, just injure. She ultimately let them pass, rejoining Locke from wherever she may have been. "Nice to meet you Locke. Also there were like 15 more of those guys so..you really want to fight them or you want to let em pass so we can just get the treasures?" She honestly was wondering, not wanting to drag her into something she didn't want or need to deal with, let alone get her killed or captured because of her.

The greenette would blush, not expecting that amount of flirting, they just met! "I-I ... yeah, I keep them well though... I trim my nails though, it doesn't look it half the time."The girl stammered, clearly embarrassed by the statement, as she looks down at the ground, noticing ants walking, carrying their spoils, of bites of fruit.
The short silence was broken by the other girl introducing herself "It's nice to meet you too." the blush on Locke's face seemed to vanish, as she relaxed happily, the forest was nice and quiet, the birds and insects chirping, the sounds of multiple boots hitting the- wait.... Lock jumps, body first into a large bush, with only a little of her hair showing, and vaguely blending in, thanks to shadows.
"I cant go back... n-not in a cage..." she mutters shaken as she closes her eyes and waits for the pirates to pass.
Only one would even attempt to get suspicious, as he takes an extra look around, to see if they were getting followed, before the imposing man continued with his group, muttering loudly about missing maps.
Locke would wait untill Mina would come get her, before rising, a bit of dirt, twigs, and leaves in her hair, but otherwise she's fine. "F-fifteen, huh.. I.. maybe we follow them? I mean, what if they are the same pirates you stole the map from, and they made a copy of it to track both you and the treasure down?"

Mina brushed out the leaves and twigs from her companion's hair, instinctively seeing some part of her in Locke as she thinks it over. This meant she couldn't die on her now. "Hm..yeah, we should do that. Maybe take them out where we can while we're at it? Otherwise if more show up it'll be trouble if we don't." She didn't want to kill anyone, but...this was seeming to be an exception. After all, if they attempted to kill her first she could at least injure them or something, and any deaths would be an accident. A gun can't really show mercy after all.
She readjusted her gun, keeping it strapped to her back after loading it and coking it. She briefly looked to Locke, smiling softly and as warmly as she could manage. "Also..it's normal to be scared but you'll be ok, alright? I mean, I'll be fine too so..just trust me." She sighed, her really not good at the whole talking thing right now, but she figured it was her own nervousness in the face of death hiding behind her calm facade. Locke being there helped her realize that wouldn't do though, she needed to work through this even though she didn't have a plan beyond the basics. She'd learn to adapt and just act for now, even if that ran the risk of something going wrong. Mina cleared her head with a breath, starting to head in the direction the pirates went, her guiding Locke along through the brush where they wouldn't be noticed.

Her grennette companion seemed a little flustered about her taking acre of her hair, as she worked on the other side, taking a deep breath, to clear her head, she nods. "O-okay, we'll do that then, yeah? take out groups of 5 or so, and maybe there would be none left around yours." She says, pretty sure there wouldn't be a large swarm of people at her map either.
Her next statement caught Locke of guard a bit "Scared? only a little, it's more like being nervous... I'm well trained, with these, but I've never fought anyone with the purpose to kill.. you know?" She asks, her light embarrassed blush seemed to remain "But I should be able to, at least knock them out so they cant bother us."
Locke wasn't a stranger to sneaking around, being a town troublemaker, but she did need to get a little help now and again as they quietly moved like a specter when they followed the pirates... after about 10 minutes, the 5 of them would stop, and the "leader" of the group seemed to pull out a copy of Mina's map!"The others think that we're out huntin' but we're gonna steal this treasure for ourselves, start our own crew..." He tells his compatriots, as they all nod and agree, before they take their shovels and start digging in a circular pattern, a good 20 feet apart from each other.

Mina found her companions flustered state kind of adorable, smirking a tiny bit. "That sounds good." She remained calm even as her companion was getting embarrassed, her aiming her gun at the group of 5. "Also it's ok...I've never killed myself, I'm just gonna shoot their legs to temporarily disable them." she blushes lightly again as she calms her breathing, lining up the shot in her sights knowing it would have to be aimed in the center to hit all her targets, 16 pellets in her shrapnel shell being enough where she'd eventually hit all of them if she aims well enough, them clumped together convenient enough. She had headphones to block out the noise, but she worried for her companion's hearing. She fired the shot, the bang loud and violent, the round firing out, splitting open to let the pellets inside hit them, most of the rounds whizzing past but a few landing on their targets, giving Locke a window to attack. "Now! Do it!" she ordered, hearing more footsteps approach them, around 5 or 10 more. Edit: added combat stuff HP: 32/32 Stamina: 190/200 Moves used: |

Once she saw her ally draw her gun, she vanished once more into the assorted undergrowth. She finds fuzzy, non-poisonous, leaves to stuff into her hears to temporarily deafening the loud blast of gunpowder, as they hear bursts of screams. Locke would pounce, using the blunt ends of her fans, she would simply run up to the ones not injured, and she impact's both on the jaw, these simple attacks could easily knock them out, since they weren't expecting it.
With the three on the ground, screaming in pain from the bullets in their legs, the other 10 or so could easily find them...

Mina could practically feel the other 10 rushing in, her climbing up the tree nearest her, hiding in the leaves with her gun pointed out of the leaves a little, keeping it steady and resting on a branch. Her breathing was nervous and coarse, her rustling the leaves a little, but nor more than a bird as she fidgeted, looking down to Locke, moving her finger in a circular motion around two other fingers to subtly hint to get them into a small circle for her to more easily shoot all in one go since it saves ammunition and time. That and she still had a treasure to spot so she needed to save as much of her energy as possible for a bigger threat than these guys if there is one.
She just hoped that Locke would be ok without her direct support for a little bit, as the more time they took the more mooks would show up, and she frankly didn't know how many would show up. For all she knew there could be dozens more pirates lying in wait and now had to face the reality that there would be casualties, and she'd have to cause them. This...didn't sit right with her but this was to keep her and her dad alive so it was a do or die situation. She'd face her guilt afterwards and simply accept the reality in front of her, seeing as she just might have to kill here or risk herself dying.

Locke's eyes met with her ally's, as they hear the footsteps draw closer, a bit confused about the motions that Mina was doing... but she got the gist of it, starting to turn towards the "Party" of angry pirates that was approaching. "3... 7.. 10.." she quickly counts, readying her metal re-enforced fans once she could see one of them, a shabbily dressed, and filthy guy.
The Greenette felt something within her... she was always gentle girl, though she often made weapons, she despised causing others harm... Though for the first time, she felt instincts take over, just basic ones, but they gave her a strange confident smirk, as she stands in a dance like pose, ready to strike the next blow...
The 10 Pirates would clearly be angry, some wielding swords, axes, even one had a large club! And they all saw only the Blacksmith. "GET HER!" Shouts one of them as they all charge forward, and the first 3 all try to strike her.
She dodges out of the way of two of them, but yells, as a gash forms across her front as she tries to side-step the last one. Her simple clothes were starting to turn a blood red as she starts to run in a direction, starting to clump them together...

Mina giggled a little at Locke's response, liking this new confident persona. It was charming in the way it showed a competent side that could take orders but not require too much ordering around. That and a great ally, which made her someone she knew had strategic value, but also the usual emotional connection she has to people. She was fairly collected until something wasn't right. Someone seemed to have hurt Locke, her usual composure lost in a mix of fear and anger at herself. She took aim and tried to calm herself, her temper acting up when she notices Locke's bleeding, this being the first time she wanted to see people suffer truly and completely for this brief moment. This started to manifest in a callous uncaring attitude, but also a protective one though part of her did want to just pull the trigger already. She at least aimed away from Locke, a sense of relaxation and relief going through her as she shot through the clump of pirates, not caring where she aimed on them anymore. "Now, hide. I'll handle the choke point." She ordered firmly, noticing that there was only one real path to where she was by this point. She was now just waiting for the rest to show up as she hid in a different tree now, resuming her position, her voice serious and somewhat remorseful. "Things have changed..we might need to use whatever means we can to clear them out. I'm not letting you get hurt like that because I made a dumb order. Now rest while I...take care of this." She was clearly reluctant, but something inside her told her she had to do this, if only to redeem herself. Edit: added combat stuff HP: 32/32 Stamina: 185/200 Moves used: Relevant Talents: |
