DEVIL FRUITS
Devil Fruits are mystical fruits found throughout the world that, when consumed, provide the consumer with a special ability, depending on the type and variation of the Devil Fruit itself. A Devil Fruit will always taste horribly bad upon taking a bite of them, making the consumer think they are poison if they are unaware of what a Devil Fruit is. An individual can only acquire the powers of a single Devil Fruit, no more than that. Devil Fruit users are vulnerable to. In rare cases, a non player staff controlled character, otherwise known as an NPC, can have two Devil Fruits at once, however, this is rare to happen. It is important to note that Devil Fruits on One Piece World may vary somewhat from their canon counterparts as we are an AU RP.
All the types of Devil Fruits can be both canon and non-canon. There a wide range and variety of many kinds of different and unique types of Devil Fruits that can be found in the world. Sometimes, a Devil Fruit can be rewarded through an event, and other times, you can buy one from the Black Market. However, the most common way of obtaining a Devil Fruit is through a Special Adventure that awards the character who completes the adventure with a Devil Fruit that is either a Paramecia or a basic Zoan type.
-Note, you can start with a paramecia or a regular zoan with the use of a talent, check here for more info.
Any other types of Devil Fruits you cannot obtain through aSpecial Adventure must be acquired via an Event or the Black Market. A Special Adventure for a Devil Fruit can only be accepted and registered if the character you own is within the Grand Line. The chart below details what the different types of Devil Fruits do to your character for the better or worse. All the known Devil Fruit types in the world can be found in the chart below.
Paramecia: These Devil Fruits gives the user a power that can either affect their body, manipulate the environment, or produce substances. In general, Paramecia Devil Fruits are Devil Fruits that give their users powers other than turning into natural elements, like Logias, or transforming into animals, like Zoans. Although they do not include powers that allow elemental or animal transformations, some of them are capable of other forms of transformations, as well as creating materials or substances.
Zoan: This type of fruit allows the user to transform into another species and inter-species hybrid forms at will. Zoan types are especially effective in close combat, usually giving a character a boost in some aspect or another. Besides the basic Zoans that include regular animals, there exist Ancient Zoans that consist of very old and extinct species and Mythical Zoans that consist of beasts and animals that are only present in folklore, stories, and mythology. It is said Mythical Zoans are the rarest type of Devil Fruit one can get their hands on, with Logias coming in as a close second.
Logias: A type of Devil Fruit that grants the consumer the ability to become, create, and control an element or force of nature. If all three of these requirements are not met, then the Devil Fruit is and cannot be classified as a Logia type. Devil Fruits that allow the user to create and control poison, wax, or any other artificial substance that does not allow the user's body itself to transform into that element itself are classified under Paramecia; the Yami Yami no Mi is the sole exception. Likewise, Devil Fruits that change the user's body into an artificial substance but don't bestow the power to control and create said substance are also classified as Paramecia. Furthermore, even if all three requirements are met but the substance itself is not a force of nature or naturally occurring, then it cannot be classified as a Logia.
A very common trait among all Logia Devil Fruit powers is that of intangibility, and the ability to reform one's elemental body if its structure is disrupted in any way, often from physical attacks though not from Busoshoku/Armament infused attacks. However, this is not the case for the for the Yami Yami no Mi, as it is classified as a Logia power, and yet doesn't offer its user an intangible body or the ability to reform after an attack. Other Logia Devil Fruits like the Hie Hie no Mi don't offer its user an intangible body due to the tangible and solid nature of the element (ice in the case of the Hie Hie no mi), but they do offer the ability to reform after physical attacks, and thus offer a near invincible body against non-Haki attacks like the rest of the Logia type. The Logia type is the second rarest Devil Fruit one can get their hands on, however, it is said to be the strongest though an argument can be made in opposition to that statement.
A Devil Fruit can have as many Forms as possible, as long as you have the Talents and/or Super Talents to register a Form for your Devil Fruit. Certain Devil Fruits may not be able to obtain Forms, however, some others can. The staff decides whether or not your Devil Fruit is capable of Forms and if the Form you create makes sense with whatever logic possible.

POWER INFORMATION

AWAKENINGS
This part of the Devil Fruit System has yet to be made due to the lack of knowledge of what an Awakening is in the canon story. We have an idea and a bit of information on them, however, at the moment it is not enough to create a concrete and solid feature. Please bear with us as we form a proper Awakening feature for One Piece World.
PROGRESSION
Devil Fruits are essentially the magic of the One Piece world, but even magic must be practiced in order to be mastered. Like a swordsman honing his skills, a Devil Fruit user must hone their fruit's power. As your character's rank increases, so does their Devil Fruit mastery; a character's potential for greatness increases due to an increase in talents, so with Devil Fruits the potential for greatness increases due to extra versatility.
Most Devil Fruits are simple and stay relatively the same. Whatever change seems to take place with the Devil Fruit power is actually related to the ingenuity of the Devil Fruit user, such as Monkey D. Luffy as his Gomu Gomu no mi or Tony Tony Chopper and his Hito Hito no mi.
Very rarely is a Devil Fruit complicated and multi-layered. That being said, all Devil Fruits on this site will only be approved if simple and easy to understand. Examples of Devil Fruits which will require changes from canon include but are not limited to; Kage Kage no mi, Hobi Hobi no mi, and the Ato Ato no mi.
Anyway, Devil Fruits take up a Style Slot due to how similar their mechanics are - to support and define a character's fighting style. However, unlike Styles, Devil Fruit users must choose between Range and Duration rather than automatically increasing one or the other. For some the choice might be easy while others might not have the choice depending on the type of Devil Fruit. Regardless Devil Fruits are the most inherently useful source of power within the world of One Piece, so choosing between a Devil Fruit's range potential and duration potential will not be detrimental if you know how to use your Devil Fruit's power.

Every Devil Fruit will be graded on a case by case basis, but keep the above limitations and examples in mind when constructing your Devil Fruit, canon or custom. Paramecia and Zoan with special powers are going to be most heavily graded due to the notable versatility granted by such Devil Fruits; for Paramecia and Special Zoans, also keep in mind one key factor when making your Devil Fruit - simple and easy to understand (aka. a specific power, not a broad power).
Now specifically for all Zoan Devil Fruits; Your "Base Forms" (Hybrid animal and Full animal) do not require a trigger move nor a talent/super talent. Instead, lightly describe your Base Forms within your Devil Fruit application as part of the Devil Fruit's base power. As for the "Extra Base Forms" - these DO require a trigger move but still DO NOT require a talent/super talent. All Base and Extra Base Forms each allow for 2 Stat Buffs which can either be used on the same Stat or on separate Stats (mention those buffs in the Devil Fruit application). Staff will make sure your Buffs make sense.
