"I don't do something because it's smart for me or even a deserving cause. I do it because I enjoy it."
Full Name:Vane,Charles.
Alias/Nickname: Storm Bringer
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Faction:Pirate
Appearance: Charles is a scruffy man, of causasian descent but very tanned after spending years at sea. His body ripped with muscle, he makes an imposing figure to many and likes to show it off by wearing clothes that emphasize his muscle. He generally wears his hair back and somewhat long for a guy, slightly below shoulder length. His beard always has a 2 days without shaving look, stubbly hairs covering his lower face. That helps add to his scruffy appearance as well as that his hair and skin always look slightly dirty, but in a way that empahsizes his rogueish good looks rather than coming off as gross. Starting near the right side of his face at the corner of his eye is the start of a vicious scar that goes down, across his nose, and touches the left corner of his jaw.
Hair Color: Sandy Brown
Eye Color: Light Blue
Height: 6'4
Weight: 260 lb
Personality: A rather laid back person Charles isn't someone who really likes doing things unless the mood particularly strikes him. He never would have been happy working a regular nine to five type job. He's always at either 0 or a hundred for everything he does, similar to how an artist would work only when the mood strikes then so that they only make great pieces. For his part he considers violence, war, and chaos all to be art and a part of the beauty in life. While some might tend to characterize him as a monster for thus he is perfectly capable of making real friends and caring about them even to the extent that he would feel bad if something happened to them that was unpleasent. It's hypocritical he knows but he would explain it as "I know them and they're my friend so of course I should care. Why though should I care about every other person or fly I come across?"
As a pirate he is a little of a wild card. He tends to do whatever he wants, and this could range from destroying other pirates, seducing a princess, to attacking a Marine base unprovoked. This isn't helped by the fact that nine times out of ten he won't make a plan and when he does make plans they tend to be very basic since he doesn't think anyone should ever need a complicated plan if they're strong.
Likes: Charles absolutely loves destruction. There is no better way to state it or get about it. Overcoming a challenge and completely laying waste to the opposition excited him in an almost euphoric way. The bigger the challenge the more thrilling it is to him. Of course he also occasionally loves to crush an anthill as well, playing god with those who are much weaker than him and taking satisfaction from their helplessness.
Based on his great love one might assume he was a violent sociopath which is to an extent true but not entirely. He also likes drinking and hanging out with friends. He is even up for playing games such as cards as long as it can hold his interest. He values his friends to a great deal and spending time with them. It's no fun destroying a castle after all and then having no one to fangasm over it with.
Dislikes: The number one thing Charles hates would be rules and authority. He greatly values freedom and actively opposes being constrained in any way. He is the type of man who will if told to do something will work against it if he doesn't particularly agree with whatever he is asked to do. Therefore it's always best if someone were to ask something of him to post it as a request rather than an order and to make it sound as appealing to him as possible.
Charles also hates fruits and vegetables. There's no particular reason for it, he just does. He just thinks other types of food taste better almost universally and have better texture. In the case of fruit he finds them particularly pointless since sugary sweets have completely outdone them in the sweet taste department. The one and only plant he really enjoys eating is mushrooms which he refers to as steak plants since they remind him of meat in taste and texture when cooked.
Moral Alignment: Chaotic Evil but will occasionally do good acts if it interests him.
History: Charles Vane grew up in a fishing village within the East Blue, on a tiny island Lamia Island. The island's name came from a local legend that a Lamia had once married a fisherman who rescued her from a shipwreck. His wife being a lamia was very powerful and made fish swarm to the island. The husband became very rich because if this and was able to provide for the whole town. In honor of her for helping save their village they named the town after her. It's unclear how much of the story is based on fact or fiction but regardless Charles had no interest at all in living a simple life as a fisherman. Hoping on a trading vessel that came by when he was 16 years old Charles left in the middle of the night against his parents wishes and started his adventure.
The captain of the trading vessel wasn't a dumb man nor were his crew. It didn't take long for them to find their stowaway and the captain decided it would be best if they sold him to the slave market, no one in the village would know and they could make a big extra payday off of the kid. Charles knowing he didn't have many options left chose to fight. He had never fought anyone before but he didn't have much of a choice so he chose not to think about it. The captain himself wasn't much of a fighter either but was at least a grown man. It was for that reason that everyone was surprised by how close the fight had been. Both badly injured and exhausted it went on for nearly 10 minutes before the captain was dead. There was a mixed reaction from the crew, many electing that they still sell him since they outnumbered him and he was half dead. Realizing he had no chance unless he acted quickly he snatched a gun and demanded to be part of the crew. The traders realizing that this kid was going to be more of a headache than he was worth to sell decided to let him in and dumped their former captain into the ocean.
Not even a month later they were no longer traders but pirates without a captain. The crew attacked small, unguarded towns and robbed them for all they were worth. Charles showed great promise growing in strength rapidly as he discovered a passion for adventure and chaos. He had never experienced something as fun as pirating where you could do anything you want and no one could stop you. Those who did try and stop them were quickly dealt with.
It was during his adventures as a pirate that he heard of the legendary items known as devil fruits. He was unsure of if they were real or not but he knew he had to at least try and look for one. Hearing rumors of a devil fruit discovered in the remote Bougami kingdom the crew traveled there. When they arrived they found the kingdom in celebration. The royal priest was going to prepare the devil fruit to be eaten by the king who would lead his people into glory. That wouldn't be the case if they had anything to say about it they all agreed as they snuck into the island. Of course they also had a problem amongst themselves. If devil fruits actually were real then they all wanted it for themselves and all of them were aware their friendship only went so far and it would be a blood bath among them to obtain it. However for now they were all in unison with each other and their goals.
As the priest came out from the castle with the golden box, he held it up to the sky and opened it presenting it to the the crowd. The most of the crew had a good view of it as they had positioned themselves on the roofs of several buildings, in the crowd, and inside some buildings. Looking at the fruit Charles smiled, excitement building up inside him. That definitely matched the description of a devil fruit he thought, from his position at the front of the crowd. Quickly he drew his pistol and fired, striking the priest dead in the chest. Several things happened at once, the devil fruit rolled from the box as the priest fell dead to the ground, the pirates emerged from the hiding spots racing to the fruit and attacking anyone in their way, and lastly the crowd erupting into a panic. It was utter madness as the organized event broke into a wave of tangled bodies bashing against each other. The king himself was rushing back toward the castle as his royal guard covered him. Vane was the closest among the pirates to the fruit and raced toward it knocking aside a few people as he did so. Once grabbing it he immediately took a bite and it was the worst thing he ever imagined. Hearing the sound of gunfire he turned to his right and felt a sudden pain in his shoulder as he realized he had been shot and by none other than his former ally who had wanted the fruit for himself. Anger building up in him as well as a desire to destroy and test out his new powers Charles smiled as he approached the man. 1 hour later and the kingdom had fallen as well as the crew. Almost everyone was dead and the entire area had been devastated.
