Rei is a curious individual, and is prone to asking all sorts of questions until she gets a satisfactory answer or until the person she is asking puts a stop to her questions. She is an explorer at heart, and doesn't like staying in one place too long. For this reason, she feels uncomfortable in the stifling atmosphere that the place of her birth embodies.
She is a bit of a dreamer, who dreams of seeing and exploring the world beyond, finding out more about the world beyond. She thinks that dreams mean nothing unless you are willing to seize them with your own two hands.
Rei values the concept of comrades, and is willing to go to any lengths in order to protect them, as long it's within her capability to do so.

Likes:
Water and swimming: Swimming or otherwise spending time in water is Rei's favorite pastime, and she would often indulge in it at random times, which often annoys people around her
Exploring: Rei loves exploring new places, discovering new things and meeting new people. She is overjoyed at the prospect of unearthing all the secrets that the world has to offer and making new friends in the process.
Dislikes:
Loneliness: Rei dislikes and fears loneliness, because she believes that life had no meaning without friends who you can rely on and who can rely on you in turn.
Stifling atmosphere: Rei dislikes any kind of culture which encourages maintaining a stifling atmosphere. She believes that it's necessary for all living beings to carve their own path and follow their own dreams.
Moral Alignment: Neutral good
History: Like the others of her kind, Rei was born and grew up on Fishman Island. She would play with other children, as was customary. Their playtime took up only a portion of her day, and she spent the rest of it by herself.
Due to her loneliness, she began to explore various parts of Fishman Island, and something awoke within her, something like a small flame. The more she explored, the stronger the flame within her grew, and soon there was nothing left on Fishman Island she could explore. That's when she began to think about exploring the surface.
When she proposed this idea to her parents, they had rejected her, insisting that she was not yet ready. Fishmen and Merfolk in general feared going to the surface and mingling with humans, thinking that humans would only hurt them. But Rei thought differently. She saw the world beyond the surface as a place of new opportunities, a place that she could explore to her heart's content and meet all kinds of new people along the way. Her belief caused friction between her and her parents. One day, she found out that she couldn't bear the stifling atmosphere anymore, and so she just left.
The world above the surface was just as she had imagined it. It was filled with variety of beautiful colors and a variety of people. Rei observed them every day. Here, she really felt alive. She observed people, who came in all shapes and sizes, and she watched them as they mingled with each other or went about their business. She listened to snippets of their conversations. There was plenty of interesting information to pick up.
One such conversation introduced her to the concept of pirates. According to the speakers, pirates were individuals that longed for adventure. Rei liked the idea, and she had decided to become a pirate then and there. Pirates lived for adventure, just like Rei herself, so she felt she would do well as a pirate, and get to explore the world in the process.
