"Y-Yes Sir!" Full Name: Vaetri Meri
Alias/Nickname: No nickname yet.
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: Eighteen
Faction: Marines
Appearance: Uncomfortable and uneasy, Vaetric stands at 5’7” (173.73cm). He has somewhat curly blonde hair that curls forward at the sides. His facial features are somewhat feminine and androgynous. He could pass for a woman should he (or another) make the effort to do so. He has somewhat long, curly hair that that two bangs that curl up by his cheeks, He has a fringe that slightly gets in the way of his right eye, and two pieces of hair that curl by his jawline into pointing forward. His eyes are somewhat large, and are blue. He wears prescription glasses and a slightly upturned nose.
His body isn’t exactly in peak physical condition. He has a somewhat full frame, not quite fat (upper body) and neither skinny (lower body). His skin in smooth and hairless, save for the ones on his head. He has a rather bottom-heavy frame, with thick thighs as opposed to his less impressive upper half.
He wears the standard marine uniform, a white short-sleeved shirt with the Marine emblem on the back, a blue neckerchief, dark blue trousers that cling tightly to his legs due to being a little small, a baseball cap with “MARINE” across the front. He wears tough boots that are uncomfortable for his feet. Overall he seems unused to the military life, soft and pudgy.
Hair Color: Blonde Eye Color: Blue Height: 5’7 Weight: 169lbs
Personality: Vaetric is overall rather shy. He is of two minds when it comes to fighting, he doesn’t like it before, and enjoys it during unless he actually gets hurt. He likes the thrill, though not when there's a chance of dying. When it comes to fight or flight, he, like many cornered animals, will fight if he has to, throwing a punch at whatever is coming his way, then running once he starts to think rationally again. He’s hesitant to start a fight, especially when thinking rationally. He becomes much more sociable when exhilarated. He’s very self-conscious and doesn’t like making a fool of himself, often beating himself up over it mentally after an embarrassing situation. He is squeamish of bodies.
It doesn't take long for him to lose his anger, especially after being shouted at, but by principle he does hold a bit of a grudge against them. He'd remember what bad things people have done to him, but more often than not he wouldn't hold it against them. However, he would most likely prefer not to talk to them for a while, especially if it included embarrassment. He can be a bit of a gadfly at times, making small quips or remarks, though mostly to people he's comfortable with, or those he sees as friends.
He’s rather indecisive, which ties into his hesitant nature. He often mumbles or speaks quietly. He immensely dislikes getting into trouble, which causes him to constantly second-guess himself. He hates being shouted at, though mostly keeps that to himself due to, in fact, being in the army. Although he's shy, he prefers to be nice to people, often helping through he can find himself trapped in the bystander effect at times, unsure of what to do unless ordered by a superior, or even just a random passer by.
It is somewhat clear that he likes food, wolfing down meals quickly as though he can't help himself. He likes to cook as well ,though doesn't see himself as very good, never really sure when to take something off the heat, thus ending up slightly overcooking meat. Pasta, however, he's rather proficient at cooking, therefore he's more than likely to make that. He doesn’t particularly like his body, finding it embarrassing especially in the clothes he has, preferring baggy clothes instead, albeit he can only do that when off duty, so he's more than likely to be embarrassed all of the time when on duty.
Likes:
Food: Self explanatory, he enjoys trying out new foods, which is a plus when it comes to being a marine, since you get to try out different foodstuffs from different islands if you have the time, though standard edition marine food while out at sea can most likely get a little bland.
Having Friends: Although he wouldn’t admit it, he enjoys the company of others, especially people who like him, though the closer they are to him, the sassier he is likely to get as a way of teasing them.
Getting praised: Although he’d loathe to admit it, he enjoys getting praised for his work, such as mopping up something particularly well. However, he’s just as likely to become embarrassed, thus he prefers fleeting, light praise rather than announcing it to everyone. When pleased, he’s likely to emit a smirk as he tries to fight down his grin of delight.
Dislikes:
Being Scolded: Vaetric doesn’t like to be admonished or reprimanded. He dislikes the thought of something disliking him, even for a couple of moments. Neither does he like to scold others, even if annoyed, the most he’d do is give heavy sass, and only slightly raise his voice in anger. Although he will most likely pick the right path, he’d prefer to avoid doing anything where he could be called out for doing so. Sulking with almost definitely ensue.
Being Disliked: Vaetri especially dislikes being disliked. He prefers to be on the opposite end, though his shyness can get in the way of that sometimes. When he’s disliked, he’ll slowly begin to resent and dislike the one disliking him, thus ending in more dislike for everyone. When disliked, he, in dislike, will tend to avoid and not talk to the one disliking him, or at least , not initiate conversation with the one disliking him, he’d rather talk politely and swiftly.
Moral Alignment: Tentative Good. (Original)
History:
Vaetri was born to the Epoch family, an infamous family of fighters in North Blue. He was one of three brothers and two sisters. At a young age, they were dropped off on a different island each, to be raised in different environments and to eventually fight each other for supremacy over the others, and garner the respect of their father. Each island disliked the family, and usually did their best to outcast them, however, the island Vaetri was dropped off on did something different. They coddled and treated him well, which wasn’t what he expected at all, and grew to become soft, and much, much weaker than his brothers and sisters. Even worse, he had gained a sense of morality. He didn't really know what was going on, nor what their intentions were. He enjoys his life on the island, learning what he can, having a warm, loving foster family. He didn't want to be anywhere else, eventually he would get a job and contribute back.
Of course, all good things must come to pass. At the age of eighteen, his father had decided that the children had enough time growing up. He began to search for his missing children. Vaetri was the last to be found, as he didn't particularly like that island, and had fully expected Vaetri not to survive, though if he had he would most likely have become the strongest of all of them. He was not. Years of comfortable living was taken away with a dismayed father. Vaetri had been raised weak, he worst nightmare, but he would still be given a chance to prove himself, appearances aren't anything, and can be modified.
When the time came that they were to fight, Vaetri was soundly beaten. His father had been angered that such a weakling came from him. While Vaetri was taken care of at the local hospital, he thought of what to do about him. The rest of his children had been decent, worthy of the family name and thus can be trained to become fighters. Vaetri however was a disappointment, he could either murder him to avoid embarrassment, leaveh im as a punching bag or exile him until he was worthy of the Epoch name. It was thus that his father cast him out from the family, amidst all family members. Vaetri couldn't have felt more alone and ashamed. He'd been given away to the Marines, and had his name rebranded as "Meri", so he had as little to do with their family as possible.
Of course, Vaetri didn’t thank him for this, but neither did he particularly want to become like his brothers and sisters, plus he had to spend his life doing something, even if it was a chore boy position, due to his lack of combat experience. Cleaning decks, and peeling potatoes, extremely boring work that Vaetri doesn’t seem to mind, yet, due to his shy nature, much to the chagrin of his father when checked upon a few weeks later. Eventually, his marine ship set sail for other blues, and crews, away from the North. Or to it. He didn't really have a choice in where he went.
He didn't really mind if he never came back, he didn't really like his birth father, he'd rather go back to what he felt was his real home, his adopted one. Not that it didn't matter, it would most likely be a long, long time before he could earn enough for retirement, if they even allowed him to do so. Most likely, since he wasn't particularly strong, and he doubted he would ever become so in the future. He just never wanted to see his family again.
