"You are...already K.O.'D"
Full Name: Komainu
Alias/Nickname: N/A
Race: Half Fishman(human dominant)
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Faction: Pirates
Appearance:
Komainu is a man of a athletic body, but retains youth to his complexion, looking rather young in the face area, it's argued whether or not this is because of his fishman genes. At his base he has a darker skin tone of a saturated mocha brown, but has a few birth marks around his body most of which appear as sharp lashes around his body that are a lighter tone than his base skin color. The other birthmarks on his body are obviously from his fishman heritage, having scale like marks around his arms, mainly the bicep. He has wild spiky hair that seems to lead in different directions, on one side of his hair his locks are pointing upward while the rest is curved downward.
His hair is longer than it appears, this is evident by the seamless strap holding a portion of it in a spiky ponytail, often easy to miss if you are facing him directly. He has a very prominent muscle tone, his biceps are a bit bulged compared to the average lanky body and the muscles around his thighs and calves have a seeable outline, not to mention his five-pack. He stands at about 5 feet and 8 inches, there is a bit of webbing in his feet but other than that and the birthmarks the trace of fishman lineage are limited. He wears very little clothing, usually only wearing some form of shorts most of the time happen to be boxer shorts and lined straps around his feet, never wears shoes. He also tends to wear the hide of a Tiger over his head- mostly for casual appearance, he tends to remove it when fighting or it just falls off on it's own.
Hair Color: Pink
Eye Color: Black
Height: 5'8 ft
Weight: 235 lbs
Personality: (Describe how your character acts and how their Personality is as best as you can. Include how they deal with being a leader in their own unique way if you'd like. Also, include how they would typically interact with others. A total of 200 words is required at the very least. If the amount that is written is doubled the minimum required for all sections needing wordcount, your character is given twice as much beli upon approval.)
Why So Serious?:
Komainu has a very stern and serious look about him, but despite this he isn't necessarily stoic or anti social. Komainu tends to "speak with his chest" or in a literal sense, a deep voice- which often gives him an intimidating visage even in the most casual of conversation. While Komainu is rather serious in theme or rather to the point when it comes to important discussion he does enjoy casual talk or as some might put it- beating around the bush.
The Champ:
Situations where Komainu actually does fit his serious demeanor with serious talk is when his ambitions or a challenge is brought into question. Komainu is a boxer through and through and takes the career very seriously- if someone ever tries to imply that his boxing is anything less than competent he takes offence to it. In the instance that Komainu is offended by how someone refers to his skills as a boxer he'd much rather show how physically wrong they are in a match, in this instance he doesn't care whether or not they themselves box with them, he only needs to prove that he is a legitimate boxer, the opposition can fight anyway they wish be it with weapons or even a devil fruit.
The King:
Another one of Komainu's ambitions as a pirate is as simple as it gets, he wants to be the Pirate King. Like many others the birth of this ambition was upon the following death of Gol D. Roger and the words he left with the world of pirates. The heart of his ambition is born from boxing, he doesn't only want to be the world's greatest boxer, he wants to take what he loves and achieve the greatest thing there is to offer for a pirate, which is becoming the Pirate King. It wouldn't be hyperbole to say that certain themes of Komainu's drive aren't completely pure, as a pirate he still wants to have and take whatever he wants- it is true he may be selective of targets, but asserting dominance over those who may not necessarily be in a position to challenge him is not above him.
Bob and Weave:
Komainu is not without his quirks. As it was stated before, he is not alien to having conversations and he is also not immune to encountering his own less than orthodox moments within a conversation. When in an intense argument of some kind he is quick to jab a conclusion and go off on a tangent under that same assumption, but afterwards if he turns out to be wrong he will pretend as if he never made the argument to begin with or dodge the contradiction pointed out towards him.
Likes: Komainu likes a good challenge, this includes fighting, labour activities like arm wrestling things of that nature. While he likes a good challenge he actually has nothing against anyone who doesn't in particular, as a matter of fact he happens to have a soft spot for every other civilian he might run into, generally his preference in people are ones that don't harshly judge him too much on who he is. Komainu likes eating, but isn't necessarily a big eater, he's fine with any portion of a meal most of the time- though he tends to be annoyed if the said portion happens to be all he will be getting for an extended amount of time, too heavy of an inconvenience.
Dislikes: It's pretty hard to make Komainu's dislike list as he rarely takes anything personally even if it happens to be stepping on his shoes, as that is simply one of the obstacles he had to face to achieve his goal, but there are things that tend to annoy or bother him. Komainu is not big on empty promises, this is included with business partners, allies and even rivals, he is harsh to judge those that make promises they end up not being able to keep, unless it results in their death he is often heavy to confront those who don't stay true to their own promises. Another form of an unacceptable trait a person could have is being in a facade. If someone joins his crew or allies themself with him, he is not easy to forgive them if they end up leaving or purposely betraying him in the process of their facade- he doesn't often hold a grudge but things like this are not easily forgotten.
Moral Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
History: Komainu is the only son of a couple, one being human and the other being fishman. His father was a human martial artist who owned a Dojo on an island in the east blue, while his mother was a fishman who studied under him. The thing about his mother was, as a fishman she already had exemplary training in fishman Karate- as you might be able to guess she wasn't in the class to learn more about fighting. Yes, Komainu's mother started as nothing more than a groupie who was in love with the dojo-man. Eventually, she was able to get closer to the man during a requested "private lesson" to which she wooed the man turning the martial arts study to a flirtatious afternoon. Komainu was the result of the following night. By the time Komainu had turned 4 years old the dojo his father ran was now co-ran by his wife and Komainu's mother. Eventually they hadn't been getting all that many disciples as they once had in the past but one thing they did get was an allowance of rivaled challengers. They of course for the most part always came out on top, and Komainu in turn had something to be proud of. But eventually a challenger different from the others came, he appeared with boxing gloves, one of the gloves were white while the other was black.
The boxer challenged his father to a one on one and after only a brief round the boxer won. Then of course, the boxer would then be challenged by Komainu's mother, using her fishman arts she posed a rather difficult challenge for the boxer, but in the end the boxer again came out on top. Komainu watched not in horror or hatred but in awe. The young halfling would also see different types of fighters come into his parents dojo and losing to the same techniques they always used, but then this man had shown up with an art he had never seen before- and a large part of the young halfling prefered this style over his parents basic martial arts. Upon their defeat, Komainu's parents offered their on dojo to the boxer as a punishment, but oddly enough he refused and left the dojo. Out of desire to learn Komainu followed the man to his home, as you might be able to guess- the Boxer was aware of the child's tailing.
Once the man reached the door of his home he turned to face the small child that had tailed him all the way there. He asked what the young Komainu wanted from him, the halfling simply requested to know what the style of fighting they used to defeat his parents. He would tell the boy that unlike karate or kung fu, Boxing is not a martial art but a combat Sport, it has set rules for how you must participate and things that a regulation. He then went to explain while it technically isn't a martial art it is his choice of combat against other fighters. All of Komainu's short life he encountered nothing but other martial arts, from use of weapons to different forms of karate- but this is the first he had ever heard of a combat sport and he loved it! After the short story the man told the young boy to go home and come another time. The day Komainu followed the boxer was the day the fiery spirit of a boxer stirred inside the young boy and his desire to become a boxer was born.
The next time Komainu ventured to the man's house at the age of 16 he asked to be taught the art of boxing, and of course the Boxer happily obliged- what Komainu didn't know was there were others learning how to box under the same teacher. Among him were young boys and girls who appeared to be a bit older than him that had been learning for a while. Komainu didn't want to share the knowledge of boxing with others but of course it couldn't be helped. During the event of sparing with the other boys and girls he would learn the huge gap between him and every single other child in the dojo- the way he was now, the other children would make him look like an ametuer for the rest of his life. Komainu had something of a breakdown he didn't even want to share the experience let alone there be others that were better than him.
After his brief tantrum Komainu went home, as he sat in his room he thought of just forgetting about boxing if he wasn't going to be unique. The more he grieved to himself the more irritating the idea of others being better than him. Komainu looked to the outside world and gripped his hands into fists, if he couldn't be the only boxer of the next generation he would be the BEST one. Komainu knew he wouldn't be able to get better than the other kids if he was as far back as he was compared to them, so he had to start doing his own exercises and training besides the one he got from his coach. Komainu had skipped class for a few days to go through his own intense training that no kid would ever need to go through. The day he had finally shown up to class he challenged all of his cohorts on the same day. In an amazing turn of events he indeed managed to beat all of them, they had been months ahead of him in training yet he was able to assert his dominance in the length of a week. While Komainu was proud of his succession to his fellow cohorts he knew that wasn't enough, they would always seek to challenge him to regain their position on the top, so he set a threshold for his cohorts.
"If you want to challenge me, I am ready at any time- but I will crush you with no mercy!"
With that quote, his cohorts didn't just view him as another student, but a sub-coach to the coach! He was respected and feared, this was his coming of age moment.
In current day, Komainu has since left the dojo he knew there would be other fighters...other boxers in the world- he needed to beat all of them.
