I don't think either of these should have a range beyond Melee, as one is a an Attack with a Melee Weapon while the other is a defensive one. Even factoring in the Wind special effect, since you do not officially have access to it until Junior Rank. Mentioning Wind for fluff doesn't matter, however.
More specifically, the description on the first move mentions a blade while the weapon required for the move and style is a staff. Needs clarifying.
Defense Move should include an accurate description of what rank move it can block. Also probably more of a personal defense then a "or her allies" one, as you're using a staff to deflect an attack (no access to functional special effect until Junior) directed at yourself.
