Vaetric let out a sigh, slightly choked sigh of relief. He looked at the hush puppy almost accusingly, his shoulders hunched. He glanced to Erik, who had been holding him until he sat back onto his previous seat. Vaetric let out another shuddering sigh, guess he survived for another day. Erik seemed to be as relieved as his throat was, albeit it felt a bit scratchy as he massaged it. He guessed it wasn’t going to be as bad as he thought for his throat. He took another long breath, before relaxing a little. Guess he wasn’t dying today, he gave a grateful, little smile toward Erik.
He jumped as a loud voice came from behind them, glancing a little stiffly toward Cordelia as she marched toward them with an unhappy face, turning away as she almost arrived. Jumping again as she slammed her hands on the table, Vaetric couldn’t help but yelp a little as she admonished them. Vaetric began to fidget as he remembered the disgusted faces around them. He had thought earlier that they were disgusted that he was choking, before he realised that people would probably be more concerned than annoyed of his.. Throat problems. Then he realised that he had been sat on top of Erik, his face fast becoming red and not just from embarrassment. Did people think he and Erik were.. Doing something? “I.. Uhm..” He mumbled and stuttered, pointing weakly to the somewhat moisturised hush puppy. “I.. I was..” He said, voice choked, and not from the food this time as he shook his hand a little at the hush puppy. “Cho.. Uhm.. Cho.. King.. I was choking..” He said as his torso shook, just realising how, in a bid to make things less embarrassing for him, he made it EVEN MORE embarrassing. How abhorrent.
He reached into his trousers, finding it hard to take out his beli due to him sitting down stretching the fabric. When will they give him some larger trousers? He placed the beli gently on the table, deciding more was better than less, especially since he didn’t know how much the ribs cost, not that he cared, hopefully it’d also help Erik pay for the ribs as well. "S..Sorry.." He muttered, then aimed to flee the restaurant, resolving never to come here again, and never to come back to the Island either if he could help it, once they leave. He’d try to leave through the back exit, if there isn’t one, he’d go through the walk of shame to the front. He’d hide his face somewhat in his arms, leaving as quickly as possible. It was going to be an awkward power walk to the ship.

Erik despite being very confused couldn't get his eyes off of Cordelia's menacing glare. There was just something about it that 'froze' the poor guy in place. It reminded him so much of the captain's glare which he pretty much gave on a daily basis. You'd think that would make Erik more use to these types of intimidation, but not a chance! Hell, not even the other Marines aboard appeared to be use to it. "I...am not sure wha-" Erik paused as Vaetric started to speak, or at least attempt to. He looked over to the blond with some concern, and again confusion. Dubois didn't pick up on what this was all about, and wasn't exactly sure what to think of this. He was just trying to save his new friend's life, who wouldn't? But it most likely had nothing to do with any of that.
"Vae..." Dubois watched as Vaetric dumped the beli on the table, and walk out of the back embarrassingly. The amount he left was actually enough for the both of them, a tad bit more even. It was a shame since Erik wanted to be nice, and pay for all of this instead, but that was the least of his worries. "..tric?" he continued after watching his fellow choreboy leave. Perhaps he was getting all flustered about the choking? This was then that Erik realized the many eyes looking in his direction. Must have been something Meri picked up on. His eyes then fell back on Cordelia who was looking towards the door the blond left out of, shaking her head some. What was going through her mind was unknown, but she didn't appear to be as aggressive as before. "I'll just...see myself out." Erik mumbled with a sheepish grin as he quietly slid out of his table, and towards the same door.
Once out, Erik sighed, and turned his head left to right, looking for Vaetric. If he finds him, Dubois would attempt to jog up to him to catch up. "Vaetric!" Erik would say as he made it to Meri, slowing down once close enough to match Vaetric's speed walking. "That was really...something huh?" he'd ask, still oblivious. Whatever it was, he knew it was getting to his new friend for one reason or another, and he wanted to make him feel better. "Hey, how about we do some reading when we get back?" Erik asked with a light grin, attempting to cheer up Meri. He'd honestly rather be training right now after having that big meal...even if he didn't get to finish it all, but that might not be the best call to make after what just happened. "You know, if we don't have more work, or anything waiting for us." he added, rubbing the back of his head with a light chuckle.
Despite some of the rocky events that occurred today, Erik still saw this as a pretty good day. He's not only met a new chore boy to help him out on the chore work, but also a new friend to bond, and get stronger with. They will become great Marines one day, he just knew it.

Someone admonished him, even if they thought he was doing “something else”, and he had explaiend it - as poorly as he did - he couldn’t help but feel sulky at Cordelia, he definitely wasn’t returning any time soon. And he hoped she knew that. ..That might be a little bit spiteful of him, but he was feeling spiteful. How could she just.. Jump to conclusions like that? Couldn’t the rest of them see he was choking? Couldn’t they see his face was turning red, or purple or blue? They must’ve been all blind! He let out a shuddering breath through his nose. Now if people recognise him, they’ll just see some person being hugged by another- and what was wrong about hugging? He preferred not to do it, since he didn’t really like touching others at all, but for them to just.. Stare at them, what were they thinking? His mind swam as he walked briskly down the streets, his mood sinking downer and downer. He’ll have to hope they leave soon, or else he could suffer further embarrassment. He’ll have to hide in the ship, it wouldn’t be too hard since he was only a choreboy, he wouldn’t have much reason to clean anywhere else. But.. What if people spoke to the Marines? To the patrolling ones around the town, saying one or two of their own were “messing about”, and they decided to confrotn them or him about it? Vaetric jumped a bit as he heard someone call after him, glancing he noticed Erik jogging toward him, slowing down enough to walk side-by-side. “ Uh.. Y.. Yeah..” He agreed, though Erik didn’t seem concerned about what just happened. Was he oblivious? If so, that’d be a very interesting feat, maybe it’d be best not to point it out, since he’d probably get embarrassed as well. No, if Erik asked him if he wanted to go back there, he’d just make an excuse, hopefully they’ll go before he ran out of them. “ Huh?” He asked as Erik asked him something, before it hit him he was asking about reading. “ Oh! Uhm.. Y.. Yeah..” He said, nodding tentatively as Erik grinned at him. Seems he really was oblivious. “ I guess.. We can.” He said, feeling a little better that his friendship with Erik hadn’t grown awkward between them. He blinked. Friend.. Ship? He hadn’t had a friend, an actual friend in ages, and in a day or below, he’d made one? Was switching from the north to the east making it that easy to make friends, or was this just a chance meeting? “ Yeah..” He said, nodding slowly as Erik mentioned another thing. “ But.. Reading sounds good.” He affirmed with a little smile. All he had to do now was hope nothing else could jeopardise it, or make it awkward. He found himself liking Erik, he made him feel warm in his chest. Guess that’s what having a friend felt like. He turned his head to look at where he was going. He guessed he could try a little to train, if he was doing it with Erik, that wouldn’t be so bad. He hoped he’d be with him for a while, and when one inevitably has to leave, it’d be on good terms; he wouldn’t look forward to that day. But.. He should just enjoy it while he can, rather than fear for the future. In fact, he should look forward to it. Who knows how strong he could become, if he can? -Exit- Wordcount: 652 Total Wordcount: 13840
